You probably fought like crazy with your siblings when you were younger, but this video is proof that there’s no one better to have by your side than your brother or sister.
In this video from August 2014, then 36-year-old breast cancer survivor, Lindsay MacPhee-Currie—who was told by doctors that it would be impossible for her to have a child—surprises her brother with the news that she’s pregnant, the Huffington Post reports.
In the message accompanying the video, posted on Facebook by Love What Matters, Lindsay explains that at 27, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was told that treatment may affect her fertility. After years of trying and not conceiving, she moved back home to Nova Scotia with a broken heart so she could be close to family.
At 36, after a bout of what she thought was food poisoning, she found out she was pregnant with “a miracle baby.”
“I couldn’t wait to tell my family, especially my brother who did not believe we could not have kids,” Lindsay explained. “My brother and I are like best friends. We captured his reaction on video. My son is now 14 months old and I still cannot watch the video without crying. It defines our families’ true love.”
She surprised her brother with a bottle of wine and simply said, “Given I can’t drink for the next nine months”—and then the waterworks began.
Lindsay felt compelled to re-share the sweet video after the alligator attack at Disney World and Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando last week, she told the Huffington Post.
“For the world to see that reaction, I think it restores faith in humanity and that there is still a love of love out there,” she explained.
Lindsay concluded the post by saying “our hearts our full”—and yours will be too after you see this heartwarming moment.
