Officer hurt, suspect shot following police chase, double shooting in Charlotte

A double shooting in Charlotte led authorities on a chase through Catawba County that ended in an exchange of gunfire that left both an officer and suspect injured.

The shooting happened on East W.T. Harris Boulevard at Brook Canyon Drive near Independence Boulevard.

Two people have non-life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said.

Three people are in custody at the Harris Boulevard scene, according to a police source.

Authorities chased the person involved in the Charlotte shooting to Highway 16 and Buffalo Shoals Road.
