Eyes are generally the first thing we notice about a person – and scientists have discovered that there may be a reason why we look to them for guidance about a new person right off the bat.
They found out that eyes can be extremely telling about an individual’s personality. The color of your eyes tell others about your likes and dislikes, as well things like your tolerance for pain and how acquaintances perceive you.
Scientifically speaking, having brown eyes is the result of more melanin in your body. People with brown eyes are generally more powerful and assertive, which causes others to look to your for guidance.
The Charles University in Prague came out with a study that explains people with darker pigmented eyes are perceived as extremely loyal and respectful – but one thing they’re not known to be is submissive. People with brown eyes are normally the Alpha dog in the group.
Not only are they known as the dominant eye color (both anecdotally and genetically) a study reported in the Chronobiology International discovered that people with darker eyes usually sleep less than people with other eye colors. In fact, on average brown-eyed people get two hours less of sleep than lighter-eyed people!
If you have blue eyes, give yourself a pat on the back! Not only do you have extreme physical strength, but your mental toughness is also off the charts. Even though this is generally the case for people with blue eyes, most people don’t see that side of you.
Scientists have found that people preemptively judge those with blue eyes and perceive them as weak, flaky and untrustworthy. Medical Daily actually reported that people with blue eyes are often seen as too “competitive” and “egotistical.”
But this is where blue-eyed people prove the world wrong! The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine reported that women blue eyes can generally tolerate pain related to childbirth better than those with dark brown (or seemingly black) eyes!
They can also handle the mental stress raising a child brings in the following years. Dr. Inna Belfer, of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, said that this type of inner strength bodes well for their mental well-being even after the birthing process is over!.
“In a study involving 58 pregnant women – 24 with dark-colored eyes and 24 with light-colored eyes – those with lighter eyes achieved greater reductions in postpartum anxiety, depression, and catastrophizing/rumination.”
So let other people’s judgements roll of your shoulders, blue-eyed people. You know just how strong you are on the inside and out!
Gray eyes may seem like a rarity – but we have some bad news. They are actually just a muted version of bright blue eyes! However, that doesn’t mean you share the same personality qualities as those with blue-tinted eyes!
People with gorgeous dark gray eyes are generally people pleasers and can have two separate sides to their personalities that ignites depending on the needs of the person in front of them! This may be challenging to those who feel as though they don’t have control of their personality “switch.”
But if you have light gray eyes, you are more reserved and guarded when it comes to new people. It takes time to allow others past your emotional wall, but once you do, you care for them like your own family!
Green-eyed people are often perceived as mysterious to those who don’t know you already!
Unsurprisingly, a study completed by the Impulse Corporation found out that the most commonly used word to describe people with green eyes was “sexy.” They also discovered that the eye color that most participants in the study wanted to change to was green.
Doctor Hamadi Kallel, a leading ophthalmologist surgeon, spent years studying the results of countless research articles on eye color and found a common thread between them all!
“[People with green eyes] have an air of mystery and a quiet self-sufficiency. [They are] often unpredictable, but slow to anger.. They are original, creative and perform well under great pressure.”
It’s easy to see, people with green eyes are desirable in every way!
According to the Eye Doctor Guide, hazel eyes can actually change color from green to brown in a flash! But the guide also explained that those with hazel eyes can also have an iris that’s a combination of two different colors! How cool!
Since the color of their eyes is unique to begin with, people with hazel eyes are generally independent, extremely confident and love to get the most out of life! They also despise set plans and prefer to go with the flow!
Along with their different (and somewhat unpredictable) personalities, Dr. Matthew Leach of the University of South Australia explains that people with hazel eyes can actually run into some serious health problems.
He says it all has to do with the liver, and people with mixed eye colors have this pigmentation because of a liver imbalance. This means that people with hazel eyes are more prone to stomach and digestion issues!
